digging in

he must have really liked the mp3 player because about 30 seconds after he opened it it was out of the package, hooked to the laptop and he was listening to music within the space of a half an hour!

the gift revealed

finally!

this year was the first time in about four years that tom and i have bought each other a gift for christmas, we decided that we had better do it this year since next year we will have two kids and a mortgage. this is a photo of tom opening his gift from me, i filled the box with books so that he would not know the gift was so very light. note the look of surprise on his face. tom has been telling me for at least two years that he would love to have an mp3 player and i have been telling him for equally as long that they were totally unnecessary. i finally came around to his way of thinking on the subject i just didn't tell him, so in the end he was surprised, i think.

daddy's gift

isaac and the baby pitched in from the pooh bear bank and got tom a gift certificate to the music store of his choice. he loved it and i know he can't wait to get to grand rapids and spend it!

best present

as a parent you usually try to be strategic and save the best present for last. well tom and i are no different and we saved the best for last with isaac this year. yes you are really seeing this correctly, isaac's favorite gift was not the tricycle, or the keyboard or the cool spiderman boat, but the broom! he loves to sweep the floor and now he can do so with a broom of his own size. he used to use the big one but that turned out to be dangerous for everyone in our house, the dog, or anything on tables and counters.

These are some photos of our christmas at home with just the three of us, tom isaac and myself. because our fancy camera that we got on clearance at meijer dosn't have a timer this is the only way to get pictures with all three of us in it. its a good thing tom has such long arms!

prayers from isaac

one of the things we love to do with isaac is pray, we want him to grow up having a constant communication with his creator. so we pray together with him every night before bed and during the day and whenever he asks to "talk to Jesus" yesterday my parents were here visiting which was great, they came to check out all of isaac's new christmas gear and we had a nice day. isaac was cuddling with his nana before his nap, and he decides that he needs to "say my prayers" he prayed for his nana and papa, we said thank you Jesus, and he said "for keep them safe"
maybe it is just my pregnant hormones making me all teary eyed but that just makes me cry, that his little heart and mind thought to thank Jesus for keeping his nana and papa safe on their trip out to see us. i love to listen to him pray and hear how God promts him to pray, he prays every day for his grandparents, his great grandparents, his aunts and uncles, cousins, our pastors and there families, but sometimes he will come up with prayers for people that we have not seen or talked to in weeks or months, it is the coolest thing to see God work through the prayers of a child.

vacation 2005

this was our vacation in 2005, we spent a week on the beach in holland mi. we had a great time. isaac is so little here, and tom is so bald!

well here i am a brand new member of modern society. i have not just my very own blog, but i hold in these two out of practice typing hands my very own laptop. now all i have to do is figure out how to use it and find time to do so. many many thanks to my tom and all who helped him to secretly devise and execute his plan to give me this grand piece of technology, i love it!!
now i can keep up with everyone on my own time, i can return emails in a timely manner and hopefully i will be able to keep everyone posted on how tom, isaac, baby and i are doing.
